JEFFERSON CITY, MO — Today Senator Caleb Rowden, R-Columbia, was appointed to serve on the Missouri Capitol Commission. The Commission, originally created in 1911 to oversee the construction of the State Capitol, is charged with the building’s preservation and restoration and maintains the vast art collection housed within. The commission also educates the public on the history of Missouri’s State Capitol.

“Our Capitol building is a monumental symbol of unity, strength, and public service. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to walk the halls on a daily basis,” said Rowden. “I’m especially honored to serve on the commission as it oversees a multi-year exterior restoration and draws future plans to make the building safer, more efficient, and most importantly more accessible to the people of Missouri.”

Information regarding the State Capitol, its history, and the ongoing restoration project can be found at capitol.mo.gov.
